Open Thor Build | Robotics lab
In the Robotics lab, which is part of Open Thor Build, we develop innovative building envelope systems and automated construction methods that drive both product and process innovation. The lab supports research into sustainable and circular construction processes, robust and multifunctional performance, affordability and broad applicability, and greater efficiency and safety on site thanks to automation.
The Robotics lab is equipped with an advanced robotic system that enables innovative construction methods to be tested, both off-site and on-site.
The infrastructure consists of:
- A modular linear motion system acting as a seventh axis for the robotic arm, offering high speed, precision and flexibility. This enables tools and components to be moved across a large working area.
- A multifunctional industrial robot arm (payload 150 kg), suitable for complex operations.
- An optical tracking system with 10 cameras, for real-time tracking of the robot and objects, precise positioning, quality control and safe interaction between humans and machines.
