Photovoltaic Reliability Lab
The principle of ‘Design for Reliability’ forms the basis of various research initiatives at EnergyVille in the field of PV module reliability.
In the PV lab, we test solar panels under controlled conditions to analyse their performance, reliability and ageing behaviour, ensuring that new materials, innovative technologies and commercial panels can be used safely, efficiently and sustainably.
Although we use conventional accelerated testing methods, our work goes beyond that: we develop new tests and support the creation of new standards. We design targeted reliability studies to identify weaknesses in materials or technologies. By combining opto-electrical characterisation with destructive material analysis, we can uncover the underlying failure mechanisms.
