The controller optimises energy consumption at both building and district level. 

It makes full use of the flexibility available in the thermal network, including: 

  • The thermal mass of buildings 

  • Central and decentralised storage systems 

  • The thermal network itself 

Intelligent Demand-Side Management 

The technology actively controls the demand side of district heating networks and coordinates different energy system components, such as storage units and heat pumps. By optimising energy consumption, it also indirectly influences the supply side of the system. 

Advanced Control Objectives 

The STORM controller supports a range of optimisation objectives, including: 

  • Peak shaving of heat demand 

  • Heat curve tuning and flattening 

  • Interaction between electricity markets, heat pumps and CHP systems 

  • Return temperature minimisation 

These capabilities help increase the efficiency, flexibility and operational performance of district heating and cooling networks.
