Electrochemical cells are the fundamental building blocks of battery modules and battery packs. They largely determine the energy storage performance of a battery system.
As the demand for lighter, safer and more powerful batteries continues to grow, new cell architectures become increasingly important. These innovations are essential to increase both energy and power density while maintaining safety and performance.
A key research challenge is reducing the share of inactive components within the total mass and volume of the cell. These components include current collectors, conductive additives, separators, electrolytes, binders and packaging materials.
At EnergyVille, our advanced processing capabilities and pouch-cell line infrastructure help accelerate the development of new battery technologies. We focus on next-generation electrodes and electrolytes that combine high active-material loading with excellent electronic and ionic conductivity.
By bringing these properties together, we aim to push the performance limits of today’s lithium-ion batteries and enable the development of next-generation battery chemistries, including solid-state, sodium-ion (Na-ion), lithium-sulfur (Li-S) and metal-air technologies.
