Webinar: Building-Integrated Photovoltaics (BIPV): from technological evolution to cross-sector revolution

Building-Integrated Photovoltaics (BIPV) promises to have a profound impact on both the building and energy sectors. By integrating solar panels into the structure of buildings, we can not only generate energy, but also combine architectural aesthetics with functionality. This opens the door to a wide range of opportunities for sustainable development, where buildings are no longer just passive structures, but active contributors to the energy supply.

The opportunities offered by BIPV are enormous. It allows designers to transform buildings into self-sufficient, energy-producing entities, reducing dependence on external energy sources. This not only has environmental benefits by reducing CO2 emissions, but also opens new business models for construction companies, energy suppliers, building (co-)owners.

When integrating PV into buildings and structures, there is also an important role for digital technologies, which are deployed in the different steps of deploying BIPV: from research, production, design to monitoring installations.

11u15 – 11u30: Het effect van het BIPV-ontwerp op de energieopbrengst

We laten het potentieel zien van op fysica gebaseerde energiemodellering voor de optimalisatie van het BIPV-ontwerp. In het bijzonder zullen we met deze tool illustreren hoe het ontwerp van BIPV de operationele karakteristieken beïnvloedt, zoals de temperatuur, en dus de energieopbrengst van een systeem. 11u30 – 11u45: Hoe en waarom testen we de betrouwbaarheid van BIPV-systemen!

BIPV is een opkomende en groeiende markt, maar net als standaard PV evolueert het en zijn de levensduurvereisten voor gebouwgeïntegreerde toepassingen nog strenger dan in parken op utiliteitsschaal. Hoe onderzoeken we de betrouwbaarheid van BIPV terwijl we het goedkoper en duurzamer maken?

11u45 – 12u00: De mooie toekomst van BIPV in de bouw – Esthetische zonnepanelen in theorie en praktijk
Prof. Ir. Bas van de Kreeke – CEO, SOLTECH
BIPV is al lang geen toekomstmuziek meer. Al sinds 1989 werkt SOLTECH aan de techniek om zonnecellen te integreren in esthetische bouwpanelen. De technologie staat op punt. De kennis is voorhanden. Hoewel Integrated PhotoVoltaics nog heel erg in de innovatiesfeer hangt, zijn ze technisch klaar om de klimaatcrisis op een mooie manier aan te pakken. SOLTECH kan van ALLES een zonnepaneel maken. Wat dat betekent voor bouwprofessional, doet Bas graag uit de doeken.
Hij neemt ons mee in de wondere wereld van BIPV en bespreekt de bijdrage van BIPV in een circulaire economie, de (esthetische) mogelijkheden en valkuilen, verwachte rendementen en terugverdienmodellen, enkele projecten en geeft een blik op de toekomst.
