City Labs as positive engines for energy transition
As an answer to the high energy prices and significant inflation across Europe. The European Commission is promoting initiatives to reduce increase energy savings and the share of renewable energy to reduce the energy bills of citizens.
Recent EU legislative changes have facilitated collective investments in renewable energy through frameworks like self-consumption and energy communities. This has led to the rise of renewable energy communities across the EU. The oPEN Lab project aims to establish Positive Energy Neighbourhoods (PEN) in Genk, Pamplona, and Tartu, promoting energy-efficient urban areas with net-zero greenhouse emissions. In this ENoLL session, we’ll discuss the role of PENs and energy communities in city energy transitions.
Target audience
The event is designed for city representatives, (social science) researchers, Living Lab practitioners, company representatives, and citizens interested in learning about positive energy neighbourhoods and energy communities.
