‘EU@T2’ event puts the spotlight on energy and lifelong learning

News22-04-2024

On Wednesday, May 29, 2024, EnergyVille and T2-campus are joining forces for an international seminar focusing on the crucial role of lifelong learning in the energy transition. The event, titled “EU@T2,” offers a unique opportunity to explore how continuous education and skills development can contribute to a successful transition to sustainable energy. The program will be shaped by several keynote speakers and workshops from various leading organizations. It promises to be a particularly interesting event, which has already been awarded the EU President’s Label as part of the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

In an era where the energy transition has become an urgent issue, it is essential not only to embrace technological innovation, but also to invest in continuous education and knowledge building. Anneleen Conjaerts, Community Builder at T2 campus, emphasizes, “Lifelong learning is the fuel that propels us towards a sustainable future. In an ever-evolving world, it is therefore important that you, as an individual or company, continue to develop and upskill. With the organization of our first international event ‘EU@T2’, together with EnergyVille, we are capitalizing on this and offering tools to continue working on the challenges that the energy transition encompasses.”

Gerrit Jan Schaeffer, General Manager of EnergyVille confirms, “For the energy transition to succeed, we need not only new technologies but also the human capital to meet the needs of the fast-growing renewable energy sector. With initiatives like ‘EU@T2’ we hope to give companies, but also individuals, an insight into the possibilities in terms of lifelong learning within energy transition, so that installers, technicians, teachers, policy makers, developers, cities and municipalities, students…. can always work with the latest information.”

EU Presidents' Label

The event’s program includes a wide range of keynotes and workshops presented by leading experts from industry and academia. With contributions from EnergyVille, T2 campus and renowned partners such as VDAB, SyntraPXL, EducaThor, EIT InnoEnergy, Interreg/VOLTA and BeWise, the event promises to be a valuable source of inspiration and knowledge for companies or individuals striving for a more sustainable future. It will end with a debate led by Professor Johan Driesen between Mayor of the city of Genk Wim Dries, CEO of SyntraPXL Group Dirk Vanstipelen and Kathleen Sterckx, manager at IncubaThor. This will provide participants with various insights, tools and strategies to further navigate the complexities of energy transition.

The icing on the cake is the EU Presidential Label awarded to ‘EU@T2’. Indeed, on the occasion of the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the EU, the federal government highlights a select number of events by giving them the official Presidency label. The ‘EU@T2’ event was selected for this purpose and as such is an extension of the official presidency program. This study day offers a unique opportunity for professionals, academics, policy makers and students to network, share knowledge and work together on sustainable energy.
