Genk Groeit

On Wednesday 17 September, “Genk Groeit” was officially launched at the T2-campus in Genk. Together with partners SyntraPXL, VDAB, EducaThor, the City of Genk, KRC Genk, and Stebo vzw, EnergyVille will be aiming to ignite curiosity for technology and energy among Genk’s residents and beyond, while at the same time stimulating talent development through accessible activities and initiatives.

Our first kick-off with partners was a success

During the kick-off, we gathered with all partners and our network to present the ambitions and initial plans of Genk Groeit.

Project manager Stijn Remels (SyntraPXL) gave a brief introduction:

“It’s fantastic to finally be able to present this. With our activities, we hope to spark a passion for learning among latent tech talent, because there is a strong demand for diverse technical profiles in the labor market.”

Also Dennis Panis from KRC Genk gave an inspiring talk on the use of data technology and AI in the development of Genk’s youth players.

No traditional ribbon-cutting, but a football instead

The highlight of the kick-off was probably this: each partner placed their signature on a KRC Genk football. A symbolic yet meaningful gesture that perfectly captures what Genk Groeit stands for: bringing the ball in motion to ignite excitement about energy and technology.

First activities will be launched soon

Behind the scenes, we have been working for quite some time to create exciting activities and initiatives, which are now finally ready to see the light of day. Soon, participants of KRC Genk Buurtvoetbal – a project offering free weekly football classes to children from underprivileged neighbourhoods – will get a first taste, among other planned activities. Other initiatives to introduce the residents of Genk and the surrounding area to technology, energy, and innovation, will also be launched in the coming months.

At EnergyVille, we are grateful to be able to contribute to this project. We hope, together with our partners, to spark curiosity about energy and technology for the residents of Genk and its surroundings.

This project was co-financed by Europa WSE.
