KBC's Energy- and Renovation Check, scientifically underpinned by EnergyVille

KBC's Energy and Renovation Check, a user-friendly instrument that allows customers to screen their homes and make them 'future-proof' in terms of energy efficiency and consumption is currently being finalized. Based on parameters that the customer provides, it calculates the possible savings in terms of energy consumption and proposes relevant investments. The tool is scientifically underpinned by EnergyVille / VITO.

The application is free until the end of September. Afterwards the cost price is 40 euros for a fully finished and individualized advice. Energy renovation advice can be given for homes in Flanders, Brussels and Wallonia. CBC will, for technical reasons, only offer the tool to its customers in Wallonia later this year.

Karin Van Hoecke, Director of Private Individuals at KBC, explains why KBC offers this instrument: "Sustainability is one of our four strategic pillars. This Energy and Renovation Check fits in seamlessly with our ambition to provide our customers with solutions that meet the sustainability demands of today and the societal challenges of tomorrow.

We also want to grow further in the market for energy renovation and energy-friendly (re)building. We can do this thanks to the combination of years of expertise in the field of housing and renovation loans, a broad group of experts in the bank branch network and KBC Live, a wide online range of specific products and services and a competitive rate for green energy loans. This allows us to offer our customers optimum solutions in the area of energy renovation. Our unique and fully personalized Energy and Renovation Check is an important asset that helps our clients to make a well-founded financial decision in an important renovation project. "

Leen Govaerts, Unit Manager of Smart Energy & Built Environment at EnergyVille/VITO, adds: "The switch to a sustainable energy supply for our urban built environment is a very complex challenge that demands the right choices with high priority. After all, buildings account for 40% of energy consumption. This theme is therefore central to the EnergyVille/VITO research. That is why our interdisciplinary teams build knowledge and algorithms that enable us to make the right balance between energy efficiency, renewable energy and flexibility, striving for an optimal balance between affordability, environmental friendliness and security of supply.

The end user will thereby take an active role in the energy management of his own home. The Energy and Renovation Check of KBC with the EnergyVille / VITO algorithms as a backbone fits perfectly into this philosophy. The end user can, based on accurate and personalized advice, record the energy management of his home and make the right choices for renovation or use of renewable energy technology."
